Extruders
The Marlen Model 750 twin-piston
continuous extruder was designed specifically for continuous extrusion
of shear sensitive materials such as corn masa for corn chips. With 6"
pumping cylinders, 6" outlets, commonly connected to an 8" outlet, the
product is subjected to very little shear.
In operation, the
hot milled corn or other material is milled directly into the extruder
hopper or is conveyed into the hopper. Once the material is in the
extruder hopper, the extrusion operation is continuous and automatic. A
built-in metering system provides continuous flow and uniform chip
length. This machine is designed to be fitted with an elbow and a corn
chip die assembly (both sold separately).
Optional vacuum
pistons enhance performance by removing air, thus reducing spattering
and creating fewer fines in the cooking oil. The vacuum pistons also
assists in loading, which results in fewer machine cycles and longer
machine life.
